While many may wonder if I'm egotistical, vain, or self- amused because I take so many self portraits, the truth is this- I am highly influenced by the work of Cindy Sherman. This photographer would use the camera to capture the emotion that only she knew should could produce. In the same way, I take self portraits as a therapeutic release. I like the challenge of finding the emotion and capturing it. I like the notion of finding yourself through photography and art, and for this reason I admire photographers like Sherman greatly.
